VP Shettima, CDS, COAS, 3 Ex-IGPs, Others Grace Wedding Of Egbetokun’s Son In Lagos

Vice President Kashim Shettima; Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja; three former Inspectors-General of Police (IGPs) and other guests were present when the son of the incumbent Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, tied the nuptial knot with his wife in Lagos at the weekend.


Victor Egbetokun married Anjolaoluwa last Saturday at a well-attended and colourful event, graced by serving and retired Police officers, including former IGP Musiliu Smith, former IGP Mohammed Abubakar and the immediate-past IGP Usman Baba.

Taking to his personal Facebook page late Tuesday night, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, posted a congratulatory message for the new couple and their parents including photographs from the wedding ceremony.

ACP Adejobi wrote: “Congrats to Mr Victor Egbetokun and his wife, Anjolaoluwa, on their wedding ceremony, which took place in Lagos on Saturday. May the Lord bless your home. It’s well with you. Congrats to the IGP and Mama, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun. Ire oo.”

Heavily armed Policemen late Wednesday night invaded the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Headquarters, Abuja, commonly known as Labour House. Though details of the invasion is still sketchy, Vanguard gathered that the stern looking policemen stormed the Labour House some few minutes to 9 pm and ransacked both the Second and 10th floors. A source told Vanguard that “Comrades, armed security men, both in uniform and mufti just invaded the Labour House in their numbers and were at the 10th Floor and 2nd Floor. “They broke into second floor and ransacked books at the bookshop carrying all the materials into their van claiming that the materials were used to incite and organize the recent protest.”

During a recent interactive session posted on X Sunday, the ‘Ome Ope’ singer said that while he can sing in English, he prefers to sing in his native dialect, Yoruba. Speaking further, the singer emphasized that he cannot change who he is to become someone else. Simon Ekpa, a controversial Biafra agitator, has hired an American lobbying firm, Moran Global Strategies (MGS), to advance agitation for the independent state of Biafra. Mr Ekpa, based in Finland, heads Autopilot, a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). IPOB is a separatist group agitating for the creation of an independent state of Biafra from south-east and some parts of south-south Nigeria. Nandap made this known on Tuesday in Abuja during a combined news conference by the heads of security agencies and Service Chiefs convened by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters. 161 Nigerian students fail UK border checks, denied entry

No fewer than 1,425 international students who gained admission to universities in the United Kingdom were denied entry at the country’s airports between 2021 and 2023. A total of 161 Nigerians were affected, as they were removed on arrival at airports across the UK. According to data exclusively obtained from the UK Home Office through the Freedom of Information Act, India topped the list of affected foreign students with 644, representing 45 per cent of the figure, while Nigeria followed with 11.3 per cent. Ghana is third on the list with 92 (6.46 per cent), while Bangladesh is fourth with 90 (6.32 per cent). However, the released data, covering October 2021 to October 2023, is limited to students denied entry at the airports. It does not include international students deported by the Home Office for violating the terms of their visas, such as working beyond 20 hours weekly and academic malpractice.
